Wight Karting’s two apprentices have completed Level 3 Business Administration and Level 2 Customer Services qualifications. The racetrack at Westridge in Ryde opened in April last year and the team hope to create a further four apprentice roles in the coming year.

“We had customers flooding in from day one,” says director Cathy Foulkes. “Being a new business with a dedicated, intricate software system meant we could benefit from young sharp minds, suited to learn and adapt quickly. Ben Brading has a calm and firm character making him a great person to have on front desk when we are really under pressure, yet able to revert to a methodical business admin role when we are not. Our mature staff with the experience in motorsports are supported by a team with speed and agility – all really important to assist customers on the track-time to help maximise their safety. Dale Hunt now leads an important part of our track marshals training. Both staff now enjoy significantly larger salaries and have stability in terms of income all year around – in return they are loyal and able to plan their futures.”
