Island IT company Webucate 2000 has delivered a new teacher vacancy software system that could save schools and education authorities millions of pounds. Oxford Teacher Services commissioned the Newport based company to develop TeachVac, a free service to schools and teachers across England. The system was launched at Westminster in January and now covers all levels from newly qualified teachers to principals in primary and secondary schools. Webucate’s expertise was also used to ensure that IT development was built in to the overall strategic planning for Oxford Teacher Services’ ongoing success.
“Our long experience in developing sophisticated systems for the education and healthcare marketplaces meant that we were able to produce TeachVac quickly,” says managing director Tim Ostley. “We were also able to build some statistical analysis into TeachVac allowing it to provide up to the minute market intelligence to schools – a very unique offering. TeachVac presented some interesting challenges requiring a scalable and extensible system that was simple to use yet efficient at the same time. User feedback suggests we met those objectives.”
