‘Start Your Own Business’ week is a new initiative of the IW Chamber and the IW Council working with the High Sheriff of the Isle of Wight in support of the growth and development of enterprise and to highlight the importance of self employment in order to grow the Island’s economy.
There will be a series of events and workshops held throughout the week for all age groups including a school event, college event, all age workshop and over 50’s workshop.
The High Sheriff, during her term of office has as one of her key objectives to promote the importance of supporting business growth on the Isle of Wight. The Isle of Wight Council and the Isle of Wight Chamber have agreed to share objectives, through their recently signed Memorandum of Understanding, to work together to improve the Isle of Wight’s economic prospects for business and the wider community.
‘Start Your Own Business’ week is one of area of joint collaboration and partnership to assist towards achieving our shared objectives.
In such tough economic times, for both the public and private sector, it is important to seek new and productive ways in which to work together to achieve our shared aspirations for the Isle of Wight. In the absence of any significant government support, working together in this way will help us grow the Island workforce and businesses, as well as provide opportunity for its young people and wider community.
This week is a super example of innovative collaboration and co-operation that we will wish to continue to support.
