The Ryde Castle Hotel will be open for business once again at the end of this month.

In March last year the historic building was partially destroyed by a massive fire. The rear turrent and kitchen roof were set alight and then collapsed, burning straight through the centre of the building. Firefighters worked through the night to tackle the blaze and the subsequent water damage has also had to be repaired.

David Edwards is General Manager at the Ryde Castle Hotel. He explained that Greene King had worked closely with English Heritage. This process took almost a year and then the work began.

David said: “A big part of it is trying to bring an old building back but also to modernise it. The layout has been changed to make it more practical in terms of operations so that we can improve the speed of service for our customers. It’s more user friendly for them as well as our staff”.
