Ryde Business Association has appointed Lyn Blackledge as its new chairperson. Lyn is mid launch of her own international training and mentoring business with her two sons, and her Wightbuzz business networking group will be well known to Chamber members.
“I am very excited to have the opportunity of connecting local businesses in Ryde, not only with each other, but with the wider community as a whole,” Lyn tells Island Business. “The island way of life is important to me, and that means encouraging the support of local businesses, whilst having a positive impact on the local community and its residents. From all my years of networking, I have never seen anything bad happen when people connect with a common goal.
“I am keen to discuss the Ryde Masterplan more, with those involved as well as the local businesses we work directly with. I am always eager to see improvements not only in provision, but also in the public’s perception of Ryde, and the Seafront / Interchange is a key first point of contact for visitors. Whilst it is long overdue a renovation, it is very important that this is not to the detriment of local businesses, as after all there is little point coming to the beautiful area if the businesses & lifestyle you came for are under threat from prolonged disruptive worksites. There are exciting times ahead but there has to be a high level of consideration and consultation with everyone affected by the redevelopment works. Ryde is such a beautiful place to live & to visit – a message I can’t wait to share with the rest of the world.”
