The Isle of Wight Chamber of Commerce Annual General Meeting was held on Friday 13th October at the Royal Ocean Racing Club in Cowes. The meeting was chaired by Steve Porter, Chairman of the Chamber board. The Chamber’s Chief Executive Kevin Smith presented the annual report and the meeting formally approved changes to the Chamber board.
Colin Boswell stood down after completing his term of office on the Tourism, Leisure & Retail board and Natasha Edwards of The Garlic Farm was duly elected to fill this vacancy.
There were changes to the Manufacturing & Logistics board too. Murray Carter stood down after completing his term of office and Kevin George from Red Funnel was elected to fill this vacancy. John Burrows stood down after completing his term of office and Keith Greenfield from Wightlink was duly elected to fill this vacancy.
The AGM also recognised long-standing members, with a gold award presented to Wight Business Services, marking 35 years of Chamber membership. Silver awards were presented to Daniells Harrisons Chartered Surveyors, Bright Brown Ltd, Netguides Ltd, Hose Rhodes Dickson, GJ Banks (IW) Ltd and Inflight Peripherals Ltd (IFPL), all marking 20 years of membership. Bronze awards were also presented to Bembridge Sailing Club and Electronic Solutions (UK) Ltd, representing 10 years of membership.
LCM contractors Ltd, L F Jollye Ltd and Island Scientific Ltd are also now officially Silver members of the Isle of Wight Chamber of Commerce. Baywatch on the Beach, Cheetah Marine LLP, Marine Data Systems Ltd, Bodywise Ltd, Cemoc Limited, Best Dressed Crab Ltd, Imphouse Ltd, Innerspaces, J T Mackley & Co Ltd, Fastnet Marine Insurance Services Ltd, Westfield Contributory Health Scheme Ltd, Whitwell Station and the Isle of Wight Steam Railway are all now Bronze members of the Chamber.
