Island businesses have learned more about the support on offer from two key agencies. Bruce McLelland from Knowledge Transfer Network and Lukasz Liebersbach from Enterprise Europe Network spoke to more than 15 Island companies, many from the technology and marine sectors, at an event hosted by EV Express at Newport’s Riverside Centre. Lukasz explained how sectors like marine manufacturing and high tech industries can receive funding and support to help them grow.
“Enterprise Europe Network can offer global opportunities to Island based companies,” Lukasz said. “Through our network they can make international contacts and find international partners. I live in Cowes and it’s a great place to be, with a great combination of fantastic leisure, brilliant business conversations and innovative technology.”
Lukasz has been working with EV Express to help them grow their business, which provides charging points for electric vehicles on the Isle of Wight.
“I always try to get behind companies that are trying to have a positive environmental impact. The Island is a great place for electric vehicles, whether that’s cars or bikes. It’s a perfect fit and hopefully we will see more electric vehicles being used on the Island,” Lukasz said.
