New options for electric car hire on the Island have been officially launched. Hire a Twizy welcomed businesses to a launch event at Tapnell Farm, showing off their new fleet of 15 two-seater battery powered vehicles. The Twizys are being promoted as an alternative, greener way to get around the Island and will be available to rent from just £49 per day. Hire A Twizy Isle Of Wight has secured funding from the Isle of Wight Council’s Local Sustainable Transport Fund and operates in a similar way to an existing scheme in the New Forest.
“This project will provide opportunities for residents and visitors to access more sustainable forms of transport,” says Hire A Twizy’s Chris Beach. “This will support growth in the economy and a healthier natural environment, making the Isle of Wight a better and safer place. Through the rebranding and the promotion of Hire a Twizy Isle of Wight, our intention is to inspire businesses, residents and visitors to build electric vehicles into everyday journeys helping to reduce dependency on potentially polluting single occupancy car trips and help ensure more sustainable and affordable alternatives for travel on The Island.”
