Newport’s kids play café Bebecinno is a year old. Owner Rebecca Blachford celebrated a year in business with some refurbishment, a new play castle and an open birthday party.
“It took a year and a half to get the money together to launch the project, so to be in business for a year now is amazing and a real milestone,” Rebecca says. “Our customers are mostly mums although there are some dads and grandparents too. We usually welcome toddlers and mums with babies although we do have pregnant mums and older children as well. I’ve learnt to take lots of work home and expect the unexpected! It can be a bit boggling but it’s always worth it. I started out running the business for the children but I think we’re more focused on the mums now. It’s a bit like speed dating for mummies here and they meet new friends at Bebecinno. We have a huge reach and I don’t think there’s anything remotely similar in the country.”
