NFU Mutual Agents and their staff at the local Isle of Wight agency recently nominated local charity OSEL Enterprises, to receive a donation of more than £6,300 from NFU Mutual’s national £1.92million ‘Agency Giving Fund’.

The leading rural insurer has launched this fund, now in its third year, to help local frontline charities across the country.  The Agency Giving Fund forms part of NFU Mutual’s £3.25m funding pledge for both local and national charities in 2022, to help tackle the ongoing effects of the pandemic and assist with recovery.

To ensure these donations reach all corners of the UK and are directed where they’re needed most, NFU Mutual’s Agents, with over 295 offices nationwide, have been given the opportunity to nominate local charities to receive a share of the fund.

This donation has enabled OSEL Enterprises Ltd/Way Forward to provide much needed equipment for daily session activity at our learning disability centre in Newport and to replace funds that were used during the lockdown period, including fundraising events that were either cancelled or postponed.

John Heather, Senior Agent for NFU Mutual’s Isle of Wight Office said: “Our local communities continue to face several significant economic and social challenges. As a business with its roots in the local community, we are delighted to be able support OSEL Enterprises who provide training and employment for people with disabilities living on the Island. They make a vital contribution to our community.”

Osel Enterprises Ltd Chief Executive Officer, Tracey Hill said: “We’re enormously thankful to the Isle of Wight agency of NFU Mutual for nominating our charity to receive a donation from the NFU Mutual Agency Giving Fund.  The money has gone a long way to helping us buy a defibrillator, four new computer stations and the remaining funds will go towards a short break at Longleat for our customers during April 2023.

Over the next twelve months we will have to continue to rely on funding pots to support our services because of budget constraints at the local authority for people with learning disabilities.  The donation will build resilience in community and help us provide an inclusive, safe, compliant environment for our customers.
