Sandham Office Services is benefiting from solar energy, with the aid of The Low Carbon Across the South and East (LoCASE) programme. The Sandown based business has recently installed 14 solar panels on the roof of its building, with 40% of the costs being met by the LoCASE initiative, backed by the European Regional Development Fund.

“I found out about LoCASE funding by reading Island Business magazine,” says Sandham’s Richard Jarman. “We were already looking to install solar panels, but the scheme gave us the final push. Negating the rising costs of energy is an issue for us all, and we also wanted to lessen our impact on the environment.

”LoCASE provides grants of up to £10,000 to help businesses become more competitive and profitable while protecting the environment and encouraging low carbon solutions. The programme is Funded until June 2023.

“Securing the grant from LoCASE was really simple,” Richard says. “We sourced three separate quotes, and the funding was approved quickly. On sunny days we can run the office almost entirely from solar energy now. We think the panels will pay for themselves in around three years, and the LoCASE grant has allowed us to lessen the ROI time.”
