TAG Design Agency in Newport are set for busy 2015 – with the help of a £15,000 loan from the Isle Of Wight Lottery. Tara Adsett and Ian Jackman Read formed the company in February last year and between them have more than 40 years of experience in marketing and design. Their clients include TLM Laser, Medina Food Services, The Royal Hotel, Wootton Estates and even the branding for Tim Peaks, the “virtual coffee shop” run by Tim Burgess, singer from The Charlatans.

“We cover all aspects of marketing from logos to websites,” explains Tara, TAG’s Managing Director. “There arent many companies on the Island that do everything. Were getting a lot of work through recommendation and the Island business community has been very supportive. Print isnt dying either – people want digital now, but they still want to hand something out to clients.”

Tara and Ians £15,000 IW Lottery loan, along with matched funding from a private investor, has enabled them to move to new premises at Exchange House in Newports St Cross Lane. Theyre looking to expand too, aiming to recruit a new print designer, a web developer and potentially an apprentice office administrator.

“We couldnt have done it without the help of the IW Lottery and were very grateful,” says Art Director Ian Jackman Read. “We hope to grow the team and employ people, bringing all of our work in house. The funding gave us everything we needed to start up properly, from carpet to lighting and new office equipment. The diversity of business on the Island is amazing. Pubs, restaurants and shops all need websites. The work has been constant and we wouldnt be here now without the support of the IW Lottery.”
