“Nice wasn’t it?” That’s how Pauline Gaff from Cowes describes winning £2,000 on the Isle Of Wight Lottery. “I was eating my breakfast listening to Isle Of Wight Radio and as the numbers were slowly being read out I started to get excited. When I realised I’d won I shouted out “Yaay”! I live with my cat, who gave me an odd look.”
Pauline’s cat also affects how she will spend her winnings. “My three-piece suite is a bit decrepit but there’s no point me buying a new one yet. As soon as the cat goes, I’ll get some new furniture! The cat’s 10 years old and I’m 76 so I hope it doesn’t outlive me,” she laughs.
“I’ve been playing the Isle Of Wight Lottery since the beginning and when my husband passed away I took over his ticket as well. I also won £2000 about 16 months ago and £300 of a few years ago. I’ve done well. Anything that helps small businesses is brilliant and the high street needs all the help it can get . I recommend it to all my friends. When I went to Newport to collect my cheque I was telling all my friends on the bus!”
