The Isle of Wight Lottery will soon be offering new prizes of up to £10,000.
Organizers have increased the amount of prize money, giving subscribers opportunities to win much more cash.
As from 4 April, there will be one weekly prize of £2,000, which changes to £4,000 on the last Wednesday of each month; £10,000 on the last Wednesday of July; and £10,000 on the last Wednesday of January 2013.
Kevin Smith, Chief Executive of the Isle of Wight Chamber of Commerce, which runs the Lottery, said: “We are doing this because we want to encourage more people to support the Isle of Wight Lottery, whose purpose is to generate funds to support the creation and sustainability of Island jobs for Island people. Feedback tells us that people who pay £1 a week for their Lottery number are doing it because they want to support the Island economy, as well as because they hope to win a prize.
“Jobs are the ultimate prize for many people at the moment, in what is a very difficult economic climate. And, of course, a prize of up to £10,000 would also come in very handy!”
The Lottery – which is operated on the Isle of Wight, employing Island people – was the first in England to be developed specially to create employment, and people who buy a £1 a week ticket help fund interest free loans to Island businesses.
• Since it was founded 10 years ago, the Lottery has created and sustained more than 1,000 jobs, and has given out about £1.25million in prize money. It also funds a Start Up Business training program which has supported more than 500 people going into self employment. The Lottery recently won a national award for innovation at the Community Development Finance Association (cdfa) awards in London.
