Sunday shopping was a high speed affair for three lucky winners of special prizes in the Isle of Wight Lottery.
Deborah Harris, Julie Alexander, and Gerald Davies won the chance to race round the aisles at Morrisons in Newport, and they all made the most of their opportunity.
Deborah, from Lake, won the top prize of two minutes shopping time, and sprinted her way to more than £140-worth of goods, including boxes of washing powder. She said: “I knew what to go for because I came for a look round a day or two earlier.”
Julie, who won one and a half minutes, grabbed bakeware and other items worth around £60; and Gerald Davies, who lives at Niton, showed a clean pair of heels to fill his trolley with more than £175-worth of items – including bags of top of the food for Hilary, the pet cat.
The trolley dash was supervised by Deputy Store Manager, Gill Ereth-Purves, who said she was impressed. “They all knew what they wanted, and it was obviously the quickest bit of Sunday shopping I’ve ever seen,” she said.
The special prizes were in addition to the Isle of Wight Lottery’s weekly prizes of £2,000, £300 and £200; and Lottery staff are already planning another special promotion in the run-up to Christmas.
