Pub landlords Michael and Christine Quinn won top prize in the Isle of Wight Lottery – then announced £500 of their winnings as a reward to catch a burglar.
Michael and Christine were devastated when someone stole takings of £6,500 from their home above the Fleming Arms, Binstead, on a Sunday afternoon recently.
Then, last week, they won £2,000 in the Isle of Wight Lottery.
Michael said: “Business is tough at the best of times, and to lose so much money left us dumbstruck. We seriously thought we couldn’t go on. Then we heard we’d won the Lottery and we couldn’t believe that either.
“The win meant that we could clear some bills, but we want the burglar caught and that’s why we are offering £500 as a reward for any information that leads to an arrest and a conviction.”
The burglary took place on Sunday, 30 January. Anyone with any information about the incident should contact the Isle of Wight Police.
