The IW Chamber Of Commerce is supporting Catch The Bus Week by visiting businesses across the Island, offering Lucky Dip ticket giveaways. Southern Vectis has teamed up with the Chamber, Visit Isle of Wight and Greener Journeys to help raise the profile of sustainable transport as well as promoting bus travel across the Island. Catch the Bus Week is a nationwide campaign to raise awareness of the benefits of bus travel, particularly among those who don’t normally use public transport.

Angela Harding, from Isle of Wight Chamber of Commerce said:

“The Chamber of Commerce is very happy to support Catch the Bus Week as part of our active travel programme. We are working with the island’s employers regarding workplace travel planning. We are delivering a series of proven interventions which encourage use of sustainable modes – to reduce private car use.”

The Chamber’s travel planning coordinators are visiting businesses across the island all this week to offer bus travel prizes and information. On Day 1 the team dropped in to Pascall, Sydenhams, Travis Perkins and Rosemary Vineyard. There were 8 winners of 24hr Rover tickets but the prize of the day went to Vikki Brook who takes home a Key card with 7 days free bus travel.

On Day 2 the team caught up with Red Funnel, Wight Salads and YMCA. They gave away over £100 worth of vouchers for bus travel with Southern Vectis. A special mention goes to Alvis Rupeiks from Wight Salads who won a Freedom 7 Key card worth £24.
