Chamber members Medina Publishing, who are based in Newport, launch a new book this month which tells the remarkable story of the 1969 Festival headlined by Bob Dylan, an event that made world headlines and created a cultural legacy for a then sleepy Island. When the World Came to the Isle of Wight: Stealing Dylan from Woodstock is the first of two Medina volumes by festival organiser Ray Foulk.
“We’re thrilled to publish Stealing Dylan,” says Medina founder and director Island-born Peter Harrigan. “It represents a full circle for me as I was the press officer for the ‘69 and ‘70 festivals before leaving for the Middle East where we have built strong publishing interests. We’ve been an active member of the Arab British Chamber of Commerce and recently joined the IW Chamber of Commerce as we turn more attention to the Island and its developing cultural scene.”
Stealing Dylan… marks a departure for Medina Publishing which has built a reputation for titles focusing on the Middle East, Arabian horses and, most recently, the acclaimed From Epsom to Tralee: A Journey Round the Racecourses of the British Isles. For the second year running several Medina authors, including Ray Foulk, will participate in the IW Literary Festival.
